Default Republic at War FAQ

Here is a list of the most frequently asked questions that we receive from users, along with answers for each.

Q:
The AI in my game doesn't do anything. What do I do?
A:
This means that the AI was not installed or not installed correctly.

Make sure that, when prompted for a destination folder, you're targeting the game's ROOT data folder (not the mod data folder) during the Republic_At_War_Setup_2.exe installation process.

For example:

Disk Users: 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Lucasarts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\data'
Steam Users: 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\data'

Be sure that you have done this.

Also, be sure that an extra '\data' was not appended to the end of the installation directory.
----------

Q:
I've downloaded the mod but can't open it. What do I do?
A:
To open compressed .RAR files, you will need either WinRAR (paid) or 7zip (free) installed. Once this is done, Windows will automatically make the association with the .RAR files and allow you to open them like a .ZIP.
----------

Q:
When I launch Republic at War, stock Forces of Corruption launches instead. Why?
A:
This occurs when the mod shortcut's target is not pointing to the Republic at War folder.

Be sure that:
  • The Republic at War mod folder was placed into the correct directory ('../Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption/mods', '../corruption/mods', etc).
  • The game's ROOT data folder was selected during the Republic_At_War_Setup_2.exe installation process (see above).
----------

Q:
Does Republic at War require Forces of Corruption to play?
A:
Yes.
----------

Q:
The game launches fine but the custom skirmish maps are missing. Why is this?
A:
This means that "Republic_At_War_Setup_2.exe" was either not run or installed into the wrong directory. Go back to this step in the installation documents and be sure to install it into the correct location. Remember to install it into the ROOT data folder, not the mod data folder.
----------

Q:
I can't find anyone to play with online. Where can I find other RaW players?
A:
We have developed a RaW multiplayer session organizer. You can access it via the home page (right side bar, by default).
----------

Q:
Much of the in-game text is [MISSING]. What do I do?
A:
Rename your 'mastertextfile_english.dat' to the language that you selected during installation.

The file can be found in:

"..\Lucasarts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\Data\Text" (Disk Users)
"..\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Data\Text" (Steam Users)

Ex) MasterTextFile_ENGLISH.dat
MasterTextFile_DUTCH.dat
MasterTextFile_FRENCH.dat
MasterTextFile_GERMAN.dat
MasterTextFile_ITALIAN.dat
MasterTextFile_POLISH.dat
MasterTextFile_RUSSIAN.dat
MasterTextFile_SERBIAN.dat
MasterTextFile_SPANISH.dat
MasterTextFile_SWEDISH.dat
MasterTextFile_UKRAINIAN.dat
----------

Q:
I experience frame rate issues in GC. How do I resolve this?
A:
A GC performance patch has been made available in the ModDB downloads section. We're actively working to increase GC performance for future releases.
----------

Q:
I get a 'version mismatch' error when trying to join my friend's game. What is wrong?
A:
This could be due to a number of things. Check that you both:
  • Have Republic at War (v1.1) installed.
  • Have the latest Lucasarts patch installed.
  • Have not made any modifications to your games.
  • Have (or don't have) the GC performance patch installed.
----------

Q:
I can't find the Republic at War single player campaign. Where is it?
A:
A single player campaign was never developed. There is, however, story elements in the 'Fall of the Jedi' GC campaign.
----------

Q:
When I try to play GC with a friend, the game crashes at the loading screen. Why?
A:
Currently, multiplayer over GC is not possible. The team is looking into this for future releases.
----------

Q:
What are Republic at War's system requirements?

CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E4300, AMD Athlon X2 64 4600+, or greater

Q:
I've found a bug. Where can I report it?
A:
Here.
----------

Q:
Republic at War crashes on start up. Why?
A:
This is because you have not applied the RAM fix. It is included with the RaW installation package but is alternatively available through Lucasarts.

If you have already done this and it still crashes on start up, try cleaning your XML folder and re-installing the official Lucasarts update. It is NOT the team's responsibility to help you diagnose problems with 3rd party game modifications.
----------

Q:
When is Republic at War v1.2 coming out?
A:
We can't give an ETA. Any news, regarding release dates, is posted on the RaW ModDB news section.
